2023 Storm Ciarán

Storm Ciarán.... We were lucky here in Herefordshire; little damage, little rain, little wind! 

The Channel Islands faired the worst, in particular the island of Jersey. Of interest a thunderstorm 'hook' developed creating a severe short lived storm. These intense local events can cause local severe conditions on the ground and are also extremely dangerous for aeronautical operations. Picture below...


However, the interesting point was the Barometric pressure change. An incredible drop right down to 959.9mb was recorded here at Kivernoll Weather Station, which is very low.
